Private Scholarships

The Financial Aid Office at Washburn University receives a variety of notifications regarding private scholarships which are made available from private organizations.  Washburn University does not determine the recipient of these awards nor determine the awarding criteria.  Questions regarding these awards should be directed to the organization providing the scholarship. The Financial Aid Office at Washburn University will only post scholarships which it believes to be legitimate in order to protect you from any scams.  It is also advised that you use your personal judgment before applying for any scholarships.

  • Peter J. Hengel Thai Scholarship Program – Deadline December 21, 2018 (Males of Thai descent, age 23 or under, as of the application date.  Preference will be given to students who are gay.)
  • Golden Doors Scholars –  Deadline October 25, 2018 (Applicants must be eligible for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) seeking an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related field)
  • APTA Minority Scholarship for Physical Therapist Assistant Students – December 1st – Must be a member of one of the following racial/ethnic minority groups: African American or black, Asian, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, American Indian/Alaska Native or Hispanic/Latino
  • United Methodist GBHEM Ethinic Minority ScholarshipsOpens January each year, various scholarships available
  • ACS Scholars Program – November 1st-March 1st -African-American, Hispanic/Latino or American Indian. Majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or a chemically-related science OR chemical technology.
  • Google Lime ScholarshipDecember 9, 2018  (Computer Science or Computer Engineering degree, or a degree in a closely related technical field; A student with a visible or invisible disability)
