Before distributing a digital document:

Create the original document accessibly.

Run the Accessibility Checker.

Correct identified issues.

Export an accessible PDF if a PDF is needed.

Ensure the final document is accessible before posting or sharing.

Note: For PDF remediation, we recommend fixing as many issues as possible in the original document. Usually, the original was created in Microsoft Word. If the issues are fixed in the original, the fix does not have to be repeated every time the PDF is created.
