January’s Continuous Delivery Updates

(This list is not all-inclusive. It only shows those changes that will impact faculty the most. The date the updates will take place changes from month to month. You can expect the following updates to be in place by the end of the month.)

Activity Feed – Upload file attachments to message posts

When creating message posts for Activity Feed, instructors can upload local files as attachments. This allows an instructor to easily share files from their local computer, and removes the need to first upload files to their course before attaching them to message posts. Files uploaded for message posts are stored in the Manage Files area of a course.

Private file indicator for Google Drive materials

When instructors add private files from a Google Drive account, they are notified if the file is private and are given the option to change permissions so that anyone with the link can view the file. This ensures that Google Drive files are available to learners, and instructors are notified of the change to their file permissions.

Exemptions – Improvements

This feature introduces an Exemptions Log Data Set and an option on the View Statistics page that allows instructors to either include or exclude exempted users in quiz statistics.

Quizzes – Removal of confirmation buttons to start and submit a quiz

This feature updates the quizzing experience and now when learners click Start on the quiz instruction screen, they are taken directly to the quiz and do not have to click OK to commence the quiz.

When learners complete the quiz and click Go to Submit Quiz, they are taken to the Quiz Submission Confirmation screen where they can either submit the quiz or return to one of the quiz questions using the Quiz Info menu.
